A graphical abstract is a visual summary of a scientific research paper, designed to communicate the core message of your study in an engaging, easily digestible format. It combines elements of design, illustration, and data visualization to create a concise, impactful representation of your work. Typically used in academic journals or presentations, a graphical abstract can help increase the visibility of your research, making it more accessible to a broader audience—especially those who may not be experts in your field.
As a designer specializing in scientific illustration, I ensure that each graphical abstract I create is tailored to your specific study, translating complex ideas and data into a visually compelling narrative.
Graphical Abstract Fee Structure:
I offer a flat rate for creating graphical abstracts ranging from $300–$700 CAD, depending on the complexity, how developed the design is, and the scope of the project.
What’s Included:
Initial Consultation: A discussion to understand your research, key findings, and the visual goals for your graphical abstract.
Custom Design: A high-quality, scientifically accurate graphical abstract that clearly communicates your data and research insights.
Revisions: Up to 3 rounds of revisions to refine the design and ensure it aligns with your vision and scientific objectives.
File Formats: Final files provided in multiple formats (e.g., SVG, EPS, PNG, PDF) for easy integration into publications, presentations, and online platforms.
What Might Increase the Cost:
Design Development: If you have a rough sketch, layout idea, or design concept in mind, the process will be quicker, helping to reduce costs. Lack of design direction may increase the time spent on initial drafts. The above example uses a more painterly style. This takes more time and would increase the price.
Complexity of Content: More intricate graphical abstracts, such as those involving multiple data elements, detailed visualizations, or complex workflows, will take longer to develop and may increase the price.
Additional Revisions: While up to 3 rounds of revisions are included, extra feedback or significant design changes may extend the timeline and incur additional costs. Please ensure your data and research is clear and finalized to minimize changes.
Rush Orders: If your deadline is tight, rush charges may apply (typically 25–50% markup), so please let me know as early as possible if you need a fast turnaround.
Special Requests: Custom requests, such as adding specific branding, icons, or logos, may lead to additional charges.
I aim to make the process as seamless and collaborative as possible, ensuring that your graphical abstract is not only scientifically accurate but also visually engaging. Let’s transform your research into a compelling visual that clearly conveys your findings!
